Lineup announced for Concerts in the Canyon in Laguna’s Irvine Bowl

Musical artists and show dates have been set for the upcoming Concerts in the Canyon series in Laguna Beach, it was announced Tuesday by Coast Film and Music Festival organizers.
The series will bring five nights of concerts, across two weekends in October, to the Irvine Bowl, the 2,600-seat amphitheater on the grounds of the Festival of Arts.
“We’re thrilled to bring another year of world-class music to the Irvine Bowl this October,” said Enich Harris, who along with Ben Warner co-founded the Coast Film and Music Festival.
“Laguna Beach has long deserved live music at one of Southern California’s best untapped venues,” he added. “We couldn’t be more proud of the bands we’ve assembled for Concerts in the Canyon and Coast Film and Music Festival — two weekends that will be an annual fall tradition.”
The first weekend coincides with the start of the 28th annual Laguna Plein Air Painters Assn. Invitational, bringing Preservation Hall Jazz Band to the stage on Saturday, Oct. 3, followed by Grammy-nominated Aloe Blacc on Sunday, Oct. 4.
“Laguna Beach has inspired creators for over a century, but merging live plein air painting with the magic of live music takes our Invitational opening weekend to a completely new level,” LPAPA President Toni Kellenberg said in a statement. “This collaboration bridges two vibrant creative communities right here in Laguna Beach. It’s an exciting opportunity to honor our historic artistic roots while captivating a whole new generation of art lovers.”
Concert-goers will be able to experience live art demonstrations and interactive activities on the Festival of Arts grounds prior to the performances.
Three more nights of concerts come to the outdoor venue during the Coast Film and Music Festival. Rainbow Body opens the weekend, joined by Ignacio Maria Gomez, on Friday, Oct. 23.
Ben Harper, a three-time Grammy winner, headlines the Saturday, Oct. 24 slate, with Amos Lee performing to close out the series on Sunday, Oct. 25. Donovan Frankenreiter, G. Love and Lily Meola will also take the stage both nights.
All concerts will run from 7 to 10 p.m. Concert series tickets go on sale to Laguna Beach residents Thursday, with sales opening to the general public this Saturday. A variety of passes for the 8th annual Coast Film and Music Festival are already being sold via coastfilmfestival.com.
In a community meeting on June 8, Warner and Harris revealed plans to launch the concert series, looking to ride the momentum from the Coast Film and Music Festival, which had seen sold-out shows performed by Jack Johnson.
