In Round 1, the panel predicted five supporting actresses from “The Pitt” would receive nominations. Instead, the show landed “just” four of the seven nomination slots — still a dominant showing.
“I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that someone from ‘The Pitt’ wins this honor,” declares Lorraine Ali: “Who’s with me?”
Reigning champ Katherine LaNasa, whose charge nurse Dana was such a major presence this season she arguably could have been submitted as lead, is surprisingly not a consensus pick. She is, however, tied for the largest lead in any category (10 points). The most possible “Pitt” spoiler, thinks the panel, is Karolina Wydra as the nicest sort-of hive-mind person on “Pluribus,” though LaNasa’s “Pitt” castmate Sepideh Moafi, as the efficient but flawed Dr. Al-Hashimi, also receives a first-place vote.
There was no shortage of notable supporting work, including from non-nominees. “It’s annoying that the perennially glorious Christine Baranski was not granted her second nomination for ‘The Gilded Age,’” says Kristen Baldwin. Matt Roush adds he’s “mildly shocked that former winner Ann Dowd wasn’t recognized for her reprise of Aunt Lydia in ‘The Testaments.’”
