Weekend 2 of the sold-out Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has wrapped. Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber and Karol G returned to the desert for three days of star-packed performances.
Carpenter brought out Madonna during her Friday night headlining set. After her performance, Italian EDM star Anyma got a second chance at “Æden” after strong winds canceled the world premiere of the set last week, bringing out Lisa from Blackpink and Muse’s Matt Bellamy.
There were more surprises on Saturday, including Olivia Rodrigo joining Addison Rae singing Rodrigo’s new single “Drop Dead” and Billy Idol and Steve Stevens jumping on stage with Sombr for “Eyes Without a Face.” Justin Bieber brought out a whole cast of stars on Saturday night, including Billie Eilish and SZA.
Karol G closed the festival Sunday night with more guests, including Peso Pluma and J Balvin.

Karol G brings Coachella to an explosive close with J Balvin, Peso Pluma and tour announcement
Karol G returned to the Coachella stage to recapture the hearts of a swelling crowd as the queen of Day 3. Once again bringing her jaw-dropping crag-like stage set up filled with lights, gyrating dancers and musicians, the Colombian superstar came out with the heat of a fireball right out of the gate with “Latina Foreva.”
Her set got some extra pep from Peso Pluma who joined her on stage for their sultry reggaeton duet “Qlona,” which created an explosion of cheers in the crowd. A few songs later, she brought out Becky G to perform their sizzling smash “Mamiii.” The biggest cameo of the night came when J Balvin surprised the crowd by coming out to perform “Ay Vamos,” “Ginza” and “La Canción.”
At the end of her performance, the “Bichota” singer let fans know that she will be launching her next tour in support of her latest album, “Tropicoqueta.” Bright orange text on the festival screens of the main stage flashed the words “Nos Vamos de Tour” (we’re going on tour) during the closing song, “Provenza.” Dates for the tour have not yet been announced.

Just minutes after takeoff, the Colombian singer — one of the biggest global stars in Latin and pop music — saw smoke pouring out of the cabin. The pilots signaled for emergency landing maneuvers; her life flashed before her eyes.

After sold-out Shrine runs, Subtronics takes dubstep to Coachella’s biggest stage
Jesse Kardon has come a long way from his days as a teenager messing around with Ableton in his bedroom. The 33-year-old DJ and producer better known as Subtronics is now an established EDM star. Over the last 15 years, he has built a career that has taken him from playing small clubs in his hometown of Philadelphia to a fall headlining set at the Sphere in Las Vegas and then a landmark run of six sold-out shows at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium in December.
Back in 2022, he performed a surprise set at Coachella’s intimate electronic-focused Do Lab stage, but this year marks his proper Indio, Calif., debut where he is the highest-billed dubstep-rooted artist, playing the massive Sahara Tent on Sunday and April 19. He will also perform two Southland shows between his Coachella sets at the Fox Theater in Pomona on Tuesday and at the GV Surf Club in Palm Springs on April 18.

Coachella’s anarchic hippos are back, now as bumbling media barons
“All Hippos, the drone is in the control room, give us your all.”
Vanessa Bonet of the installation art group Dedo Vabo watched over a mission-control monitor deck, as the buzzing craft climbed into room full of braying hippos in rumpled suits. The beasts were, ostensibly, running a menacing communications conglomerate in a satellite tower looking over the main field of Coachella, but now they were spooked. They scampered around the office looming above the Outdoor stage, while delighted fans on the ground watched them flail behind glass.

Karol G at Coachella was a global hit. Yet other foreign acts fear touring the U.S.
On the first Sunday night of Coachella, headliner Karol G told her American fans, and her global audience, to keep fighting.
“This is for my Latinos that have been struggling in this country lately,” the Colombian superstar told the tens of thousands watching her in person, and many more on the fest’s livestream. She’d recently criticized ICE in a Playboy interview, but this set was about her fans’ resolve. “We want everyone to feel welcome to our culture, so I want everyone to feel proud of where you come from. Don’t feel fear — feel pride!” she said.

Justin Bieber’s do-over Coachella set features Sexyy Red, Billie Eilish, Big Sean, SZA
Justin Bieber brought out a largely similar headlining set on Weekend 2 of Coachella—with a few major differences. Over the course of a roughly 90-minute performance, Bieber brought several new guests to the party including Sexyy Red on “Sweet Spot,” and an adorably sweet cameo from Billie Eilish at the end of “One Less Lonely Girl.” The special drop-ins continued with back to back songs with Big Sean (“As Long As You Love Me,” and “No Pressure”).
Bieber wrapped up the set bringing out songwriting buddy and fellow Coachella performer Dijon on “Devotion” just as he did last weekend, followed by a surprise cameo from SZA who jumped on stage to a wave of cheers as she and Biebs performed her 2023 hit “Snooze,” with Bieber who ended the night solo on “Daisies” before flooding the sky with fireworks and saying goodnight.

The Strokes’ background visuals appear to get cut during the song ‘Oblivius’
As the Strokes’ set came to a close on Coachella’s main stage Saturday night, the band ended with the 2016 song “Obvlius” while a slideshow of various world leaders who were alleged to have been overthrown by the CIA played in the background, including Omar Torrijos, former leader of Panama, Jacobo Árbenz, former president of Guatemala, and Jaime Roldós Aguilera former president of Ecuador. An image of Martin Luther King Jr. was also included, before citing on the screen that “US Govt found guilty of his murder in civil trial.”
Video of the set appears to show the screen behind the band going black after images of air missile strikes in Gaza.

Snoop Dogg pops up during Giveon’s set at Coachella Stage
R&B powerhouse Giveon welcomed Snoop Dogg to his main stage Coachella set Saturday evening for a surprise slate of duets that sent crowds sprinting towards the stage amid the last of the afternoon light. With the iconic opening chimes of Dr. Dre’s “Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang,” Long Beach’s prodigal son stepped out and dropped a few bars as Giveon, also a Long Beach native, formalized the Doggfather’s presence with an introduction. The two then dueted to Snoop’s 2003 Pharrell collab “Beautiful,” backed by Giveon’s band.

Sombr brings out Billy Idol for ‘Eyes Without a Face’
Sombr has a thing for hitmakers named Billy.
For Weekend 1, he brought out Billy Corgan to do Smashing Pumpkins’ “1979.”
Tonight, he brought out Billy Idol, who was announced to be in the new class of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame earlier this week, and guitarist Steve Stevens to do “Eyes Without a Face.”

Sombr is 2025’s sultry alt-pop star. Can he join the rock greats too?
Sombr’s Coachella Weekend 1 set at the Outdoor Theatre was packed and included Billy Corgan as a special guest. Check out our interview with Shane Boose from last year.
Back in August, the 20-year-old Shane Boose of Sombr threw his record release party on the patio of the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood. Sombr’s debut album, “I Barely Know Her,” wouldn’t be out for a few days yet, but under the patio’s twinkling fairy lights, he was already sweating the numbers a bit.

Kacey Musgraves rides into her surprise set on horseback at Mojave
With the sun perched high over the Indio sky on Saturday, Coachella’s mid-afternoon energy was also plenty warm thanks to the magnetically poetic country of Kacey Musgraves which drew an overflowing crowd to the Mojave tent at 3 p.m. Though she’s a shoo-in favorite for country crowds at Stagecoach, Musgraves, who made her Coachella debuit in 2019, was ready to welcome all comers with her mix of sleek Y2k-era pop, roots music and many shades of sound in between.
Her cool and confident cowgirl aura pairs well with a stroll through the wide open polo field, whether on foot—or on a horse. Musgraves opted for the latter as she entered her set on horseback wearing a white tank top, blue jeans and a cream-colored Stetson hat. Backed by a full band and a custom horse trailer on stage, she strummed the chords of aptly-chosen set opener “Middle of Nowhere,” which bled into another new track, “Back on the Wagon” touting a message of standing-by-your-man, followed by “Justified.”

Justin Bieber is back at Coachella Saturday night. We ranked his hits
In the weeks before Justin Bieber’s headlining performance at this month’s Coachella festival — the 32-year-old teen-pop survivor’s first major concert after a lengthy stretch in the celebrity wilderness — speculation began to mount that he planned to play only songs from his recent “Swag” and “Swag II” albums.
And indeed, for 45 minutes or so last Saturday, it seemed like that was what he’d come to do as he sang new song after new song on Coachella’s giant main stage. But then he pulled out a laptop, fired up YouTube and started singing along with some of his old hits — a thrilling subversion of our expectations for a big festival set and a poignant act of self-examination by an artist who’s lived more than half of his life on our screens.

Coachella is never cheap, much less this year’s sold-out edition with the long-awaited live return of Justin Bieber. But if you’re looking to score a last-minute pass, you likely lost your swag when you saw the resale prices on secondary sites like StubHub.
As of Friday afternoon, you’ll pay between $4,000 and $5,000 for a sold-out weekend one GA pass on StubHub. (Prices are lower for weekend two on Coachella’s official resale site. Weekend one tickets originally retailed for $649).

What it’s like to DJ at Coachella: Backstage access, celebrities and lines nobody can avoid
Since I started DJing nearly a decade ago, it’s been a dream of mine to DJ at a music festival, a place where music lovers of all walks of life converge. So when I got the opportunity to spin at Coachella, the country’s festival of all festivals, I was over the moon.
This was my second time playing at Coachella with Party in My Living Room, a house party concert series founded by Inglewood native Yannick “Thurz” Koffi in 2015. The activation, designed to look like an actual living room with couches and artwork, was a collaboration with GV Black, a group promoting “Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) to be seen at the festival.” For the last four years, Koffi has been inviting DJs and musicians (Ty Dolla Sign, P-Lo, Kamaiyah and Isaiah Rashad, to name a few) to perform at the pop-up, which has quickly become a popular side quest for festivalgoers. So when Koffi asked me to be a part of the stacked lineup during Weekend 1, I was honored.

Anyma finally performs at Coachella, brings out Muse’s Matt Bellamy
Nearly 15 minutes after his performance time was scheduled to start, Italian EDM artist Anyma finally took the Coachella stage on Friday of Weekend 2 for the much-anticipated debut of his “Æden” set. (It was canceled Weekend 1 due to the wind.)
On the livestream, it appeared that classic Greek and Roman-style columns materialized out of thin air and broke apart repeatedly in a digital trick that made them look like they were floating over the crowd. There were also six large columns actually placed on the festival’s largest stage that framed many of the digital effects and images on the screen.
On the livestream, the graphics, which included a statue-like man, a woman made out of lightning and Medusa, looked almost three-dimensional, like they could pluck Anyma from the stage and send him back in time.
About 15 minutes into the set, Muse’s Matt Bellamy appeared on stage to sing. (I thought I saw him last week hanging around the Turnstile set!)
Lisa from Blackpink was a hotly rumored guest for the set, too.

Fans wait for Anyma to perform
After Anyma had to cancel the world premiere of “Æden” at Coachella Weekend 1 due to wind, there was a lot of hype for the Italian EDM artist’s performance at Weekend 2.
However, concerns started to bubble up once the clock hit midnight, when Anyma was supposed to start playing and the stage was still dark.
It looked like the other late-night performers, Sexxy Red in the Sahara Tent and Blood Orange in the Mojava Tent, were also a few minutes behind on the livestream, but they both started by 12:10 a.m. while the main stage feed just continued to show scenes from the festival at night.

Anyone who thinks Coachella’s biggest surprises are reserved for Weekend 1 was proved wrong Friday night as Sabrina Carpenter welcomed Madonna on stage during her Weekend 2 headlining set. The crowd exploded with waves of cheers as the iconic pop star came on stage.
Madge joined Carpenter as a surprise guest during “Juno,” in which Carpenter reemerged in a gown that was a nod to Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” for a torch-passing duet of Madonna’s 1990 pop-house gauntlet “Vogue.”

Madonna joins Sabrina Carpenter at Coachella, reflects on her first appearance at fest
Those extra minutes added to Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining set at Coachella for Weekend 2? It was a special guest and it was Madonna, who came out to sing “Vogue” and an unreleased track with Carpenter.
Madonna thanked Carpenter for letting her join the show. “Whatever you want,” Carpenter replied.
Madonna talked about performing in the Sahara Tent 20 years ago in 2006.
“It was the first time I performed ‘Confessions on the Dance Floor Part I,’” Madonna said.
She said she’s wearing the same boots, corset and jacket she wore in 2006.
Earlier this week, Madonna announced that she will release “Confessions II” in July.
“This is probably the first time I’ve ever performed with someone shorter than me,” Madonna said.
Then they sang “Like a Prayer” and a choir joined them before the Queen of Pop exited the stage and Carpenter played “Espresso.”

Terry Crews joins the Sabrina Carpenter party and sings Vanessa Carlton
Terry Crews replaced Will Ferrell as the stage tech during Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining set during Weekend 2. He also started stripping off his coveralls and sang a bit of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles,” referencing a scene in “White Chicks.”
Carlton was actually in the desert last week to perform that song with Teddy Swims, but she wasn’t there Weekend 2. Crews had the crowd singing along while Carpenter had a costume change.

Sabrina Carpenter plus Thelma and Louise at Coachella
Last week we had a Susan Sarandon monologue in the middle of the Sabrina Carpenter headlining set and this week we have more Hollywood star power with Geena Davis stepping into the role.
Davis and Sarandon starred together in 1991 film “Thelma & Louise.”
The bit features the actors in a classic car portraying an older version of Carpenter reflecting on her youth, career and fame.

Sabrina Carpenter heads back to Sabrinawood for Weekend 2
Sabrina Carpenter is back at Coachella for Weekend 2 and so far her set is lining up with Weekend 1, which is to be expected with the level of production she brought to her headlining set.
The opening with Sam Elliott as a cop who pulls her over, the drive-in theater and the catwalk of stars are all back, as is the Sabrinawood set on the main stage.
There’s no sign of Susan Sarandon just yet, though.

Yuma Tent hits capacity during Kettama
Last weekend I remember getting an alert from the Coachella app that Sean Paul’s set at the Heineken House was at capacity on Saturday night, but this is the first such alert for Weekend 2.
The app sent a push that Yuma is at capacity with a note directing people to other stages just after 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Irish producer/DJ Kettama is the who has packed Yuma this evening, unless everyone wants to get inside to get a glimpse of the shark-shaped disco ball.

David Lee Roth joins Teddy Swims again
Last weekend, Teddy Swims had one of the most guest-filled sets with Joe Jonas, Vanessa Carlton and David Lee Roth.
This week, only Roth showed up. He and Swims performed Van Halen’s “Jump” again and the only real difference was the outfits. Swims swapped Weekend 1’s blue threads for red and Roth swapped his silver and black chevron pants, he deemed a tribute to Artemis II mission, to a pair in white and black.
However, over in the Sahara Tent French DJ Hugel brought out French Montana and Ty Dolla $ign. Weekend 1 he brought out Snoop Dogg.

Coachella Weekend 2 is underway and the YouTube livestream is just getting started.
See the full schedule of who’s on today on which channel, including Sabrina Carpenter, Bini, Katseye, Turnstile and the redemption of Anyma, who had to cancel last week’s set due to the winds.
Most of the sets are happening concurrently with the stream, but early in the day you will see some prerecorded sets. Remember, the difference for Weekend 2 is that the stream subs in the Yuma Tent for Sonora.

Slayyyter crawls in through the window of her pseudo-childhood home, her long blond waves damp from a night out and the fringe of her Western jacket swinging as she reaches for a beer in the fridge. The great Coachella vibe shift
Commenters who never have been — and never will go — complain about the cost, the influencers, the hype. Purists wax poetic about the days when they disappeared into three days of music and the field wasn’t overtaken by brands like Barbie and e.l.f. cosmetics. Defenders claim they can camp their way to an affordable weekend, and others spend the whole time posting. A select few even talk about great performances they saw — it’s still a music festival.
But one thing everybody can agree on: Coachella has changed. I should know. I’ve been covering it as a journalist since 2007.
Rapid advancements in technology and mass adoption of social media have brought out the best and worst of the festival — not just on screens thousands of miles away, but to those of us trying not to trip over the makeshift photoshoot you might have seen on Instagram.

CMAT came to Coachella with politics on her mind and an Irish dance step for California
Seven months after the release of country-pop star CMAT’s (Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson) third album, Euro-Country, her image appears everywhere across her home country of Ireland. Last Friday afternoon, hundreds of people packed into Coachella’s red-walled Gobi Tent tent to watch the show. Puppeteers, dressed in the classic Bob Baker red from head to toe, brought out some of the company’s beloved icons — including the show’s host, Pink Cat, adorned in sequins and jewelry. “Puppet-chella … meeeeooowww!” boomed the puppet as she took the stage.
