Ich halte Delta weder für Gefrickel noch ist Email in der Praxis vollkommen ungeeignet für Chat. Deren Rust-Basis ist ziemlich cool und es ist schade, daß es für #Jabber (noch!) keine Entsprechung gibt.
Meine Vorbehalte gegenüber Delta sind andere:
Es ist im Gegensatz zu #XMPP kein #OpenStandard, sogar noch weniger standardisiert als Matrix. Es baut zwar auf Standards auf, aber eine unabhängige Implementierung wäre extrem schwierig.

#Signal bleibt beste Kompromisslösung. #XMPP und #Matrix kriegen von uns weiterhin Bestwertung, wurden aber aus den "Empfehlungen für Eilige" vom Newcomer #DeltaChat (nach intensiver Prüfung und Diskussion) verdrängt.

Im Menü wählt man die Synaptic Paketverwaltung. Das Paket #dino-im findet man in der suche im Bereich Netzwerk (auf der linken Seite). Mit der rechten Maustaste lässt sich das Kontextmenü öffnen und man kann dort "Zum installieren vormerken" wählen.
Jetzt kann man die Änderungen "Anwenden" bzw. im Menü unter "Bearbeiten" den Eintrag "Vorgemerkte Änderungen anwenden" auswählen. Viel Spaß beim chatten via Dino! 🦕
After a full conference season of talking about #UnifiedPush, I’m now preparing a talk on XMPP again. I haven’t presented on XMPP in a while because I didn’t feel like a lot was happening. That’s changing now.
🇫🇷 Serveur UnifiedPush déployé !
Un peu technique, mais concrètement pour vous : vous ne le savez peut-être pas, mais quand une application (même tierce, même libre) vous envoie des notifications (push) sur Android, elle passe par les serveurs de Google (infrastructure FCM).
Si vous êtes sur Android, si vous avez Conversations (XMPP), vous pouvez désormais remplacer ça, ainsi que pour les applications qui le supportent (exemples : Fedilab, Tusky, Moshidon, Elements...)
D’abord, allez dans les paramètres de Conversations et tout à la fin, "Distributeur UnifiedPush" ; entrez : push.gayfr.live dans "Serveur Push", et cochez votre compte XMPP dans le champ au-dessus. Ça y est, Conversations n'utilise plus les serveurs Google FCM.
En option, vous pouvez faire de même pour les applications qui le supportent. Préalable : vous devez installer la version de l'application depuis F-Droid (et pas depuis le Google Store, qui comme par surprise, bloque cette fonctionnalité).
Sur une telle app, allez dans les options de compte ou de notifications de votre application, et validez le paramètre UnifiedPush ou Push Notification Provider. Le reste doit se faire tout seul.
Voilà ! La prochaine fois que vous recevrez une notification, elle passera par nos serveurs et plus par Google.
Note : bien sûr, si vous êtes sur iOS, vous êtes baisé, cette possibilité n'existe pas.

Alright nerds, I guess I can announce this:
Courtesy of myself and some friends; I guess this is a soft launch while some minor things are tweaked. It is invite only, so any Kiwis can contact me for an invite, and then you can create a few invites for your friends.
Backups and stuff are all set up, and it is all just working well, and I have already run my own server for a few years now... but the lack of options for the average user out there is so frustrating. I am in a position where I have built out the skills to self host, but the reality is that most people can not spend the time working on that skillset and so end up relying on fb messenger or similar.
I have access to datacentre hardware to make it possible, and so if someone else isn't doing it... why not me?

I wonder, whether the following features are implemented or planned:
1. MUC roles "visitor" (listen only) vs "participant" (has voice) acc. to #XEP-0045
2. Moderator can mute users temporarily, without changing their role
3. Easy way to get anonymous users in a MUC, so Movim could replace Jitsi Meet (XEP-0175?)
4. Screensharing
We're approaching the final steps of the Wide Conferences (SFU) feature with the introduction of screen-sharing!
This already worked with the Muji system (P2P), but now you'll be able to stream your screen and webcam directly to the SFU service, which will take care of broadcasting it to everyone in the room... allowing things to scale to many more viewers ✨
There are still a few things to review and fix, but we're almost there 👀

That's why having a protocol where the clients are separated from the data is important. ✨
If your interactions between your clients and your account is standardized you can easily switch clients and import/export your data.
With #XMPP you only have one account (that you can host yourself) and many clients that allows you to do chat, social networking, video-conferencing ...all synchronized together. 😸
If tomorrow you want to switch to another Movim instance or another XMPP social client, you just have to login on the new one with your existing account!
Attention please! (Clears his throat).Seeing that the Pixelfed.social server was receiving spam and scam accounts, I decided to switch server. Imagine my surprise when I discovered... I couldn't. You can't migrate a Pixelfed.social profile to another instance. Apparently, this has been the case for over a year, by other complaints I've seen.
The lead developer has said something like they're working on fixing it, but it's been like this for a while...
I asked @pixelfed for an explanation several days ago. They've posted things, but they haven't answered to me.
Meanwhile, they've disabled one of the main features of the Fediverse on the largest (and "official") #Pixelfed server.
In other words, they're holding all their users hostage, which goes against the philosophy of the #Fediverse.
What's more, Pixelfed has a function to export your data. However, exporting posts always fails.
I thought, well, at least I can import the people I follow. Nope, because the only import tool they've designed is one for importing your Instagram account. Disabled on the main Pixelfed.social server, by the way.
I even started to think it was because they were one version behind the server I wanted to move to (which would be strange, since it's the main server).
Well, no, they have the same version. But you can only migrate your account INTO Pixelfed.social, not the other way, OUT of Pixelfed.social. That makes the whole thing crystal clear to me.
In short: NEVER create an account on Pixelfed.social, or you'll be held hostage. I recommend another servers (Luzeed, Fotolibre, for example). And there's also @vernissage for sharing photos.
You can all follow me again at this account: @andrewblasco@luzeed.org. Because of course, without account migration, you lose all your followers 🤷🏽♂️

Monocles, a #Conversations_im fork, is now making heavy use of LLM-generated code. Including its cryptography.
Meanwhile it hasn't backported critical security fixes that landed in Conversations (and other forks) over a year ago.
Use this information however you like.
In other news: Conversations is currently free of charge on both F-Droid and Google Play.

O isaCloud tem chegado em lugares e pessoas que eu não imaginava. Eu acredito MUITO nesse trabalho meio solitário (@dausacker é talvez o único nessa jornada também), mas com afinco, que venho fazendo pra levar o #xmpp pro conhecimento de mais pessoas.
Uma reação comum de quem era descrente mas resolve experimentar é "nossa, funciona muito bem mesmo!" - isso mostra que a impressão de muitas pessoas é que o XMPP é mais um "hype", quando, na verdade, está na estrada há mais de duas décadas.
Tudo que ele tem a evoluir é questão de opinião e gosto, mas é absolutamente competente naquilo que é essencial pra comunicação.

It works with exactly the same flow as the full P2P (Muji) version: you start a call in a group chat and others can join, but with a huge bandwidth optimization behind the scenes. ✨
To switch your group chat video call to SFU, simply invite an SFU XMPP service into it. That's it!
And here's a little surprise 🎁!
The upcoming #Movim release will come with a bundled SFU #XMPP service that you can connect to any XMPP server, thanks to the widely deployed XEP-0114: Jabber Component Protocol 👀. This service wraps the #Galene project.

Seit der Installation von tasks.org für Aufgabenlisten habe ich sehr oft die Benachrichtigung "Synchronisierung ausstehend, Daten auf dem Server haben sich geändert" von DAVx5, obwohl sich keine Daten geändert haben. Kennt das Problem noch jemand? Passiert auf beiden Geräten. Vor der Aufgabenintegration hatte ich nicht das Problem.
Mein Setup: tasks.org und DAVx5 auf Android Tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab A) und Smartphone (Fairphone 4 mit Stock ROM), Synchronisation in selbst gehostete Nextcloud und Benachrichtigung über Unified Push via XMPP und davpush Plugin für Nextcloud.
