• There are some step-by-step tutorials on our project website covering the basics of how diaspora* works, and how to get connected with people. There’s a link to these in the side-bar, should you ever want to read them in future, and there’s also an in-app Help section you can access through your user menu (at the right-hand end of the header bar).
• You can search for people by name or by diaspora* ID (which looks like an email address), if you know it, from the search field in the header bar. You can invite people to join you in diaspora* by sending them a link to our project website, from where they can choose their own pod to register with. Your friends don’t need to be on the same pod as you in order to connect and communicate with you.
• One good way to start getting connected with people is to start following some #tags of subjects that interest you (maybe #music, #photography, #linux, or #art … whatever interests you) so that you will see content on those topics in your stream. You can then start following people whose posts you find interesting, by placing them into one of your aspects.
• If you have any questions, post something with the #question or #help tag, and people will try to help you. Make sure to make your post public so anyone who can help is able to see it!

I have problems with authentication since I updated to this version: ‘Authentication failed’ notifications and if I go to the new Passwords settings I get ‘Too many incorrect master password attempts’.

Also my calendar widget is empty sometimes, but not always.

Recently watched the latest Veronica Explains (@veronica) video about self-hosting an AOL Instant Messenger server.

I think it's really cool, but I don't know how I would be able to connect a client to it on a modern computer and OS. Pidgin used to support AIM, but recent versions no longer support it. I think there's plugins for it, but I can't find any comprehensive explanation for how to do it.

Anybody got any suggestions? Ideally, it should be something that works on Linux.

Wenn ich ein neues Musikprojekt veröffentlichen möchte, wie verwerflich wäre es, auch YouTube als Kanal zu nutzen?

In Hinblick auf: meine Musik wird dann vermutlich erst recht im AI Training genutzt, oder? Und ohnehin unterstütze ich damit ja Big Tech Strukturen, die eigentlich gegen meine Philosophie gehen.

Meine Intention: ich erhoffe mir, dass ich einfach durch diesen Publikations-Kanal mehr Reichweite bekommen könnte. Ausschließlich Fediverse erscheint mir bei meinen kleinen Follower-Zahlen noch eher unwirksam.

Für unser gemeinnütziges Projekt geht es in diesem Jahr unter anderem an den #Bodensee (deutsche Seite). Gerne stehen wir mit dem Van für eine Nacht auf einem beliebigen Parkplatz (innerorts, Sicherheit statt Aussicht), doch am / in der Nähe vom Bodensee wird dies sicherlich nicht geduldet.

I've asked before, but does anyone know how to configure GDM/Gnome to ignore my monitors searching for Inputs? The OSD setting for the displays doesn't work (it has a setting that does nothing) and when all 3 of them start searching for inputs when Windows/Linux tries to turn off the displays, they end up sending some signal that Gnome/GDM interprets as input relevant to unsleeping the displays. So the displays can never turn off on their own, without my own manual intervention.

It ends with this error message. But the files are present in the /var/friendica_storage folder.

The query in MariaDB shows that the images are still stored in the database:

For the short time it existed, #FediOnFire offered this. #FediWall can search several instances, but you have to specify which ones.

I have installed a few Linux distro in the past, and I really wanted to give #Nixos a try.

However, it would not install. Regardless of which option I choose in the partition step, it either fails, or the installer has the "next" button grayed out.

Also, in the previous step, Unfree Software, documentation and tutorials show an additional dialog box; however, during my setup, that dialog is missing, and I just get a message that it failed.

I tried on two machines already, and it fails on both. Very disappointing experience.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
